Ethan Blue is a senior lecturer in history at the University of Western Australia, where he has taught since 2005. He was born and raised in California, earned a BA in history at the University of Virginia, and a PhD in history at the University of Texas at Austin. He writes about prisons, policing, and justice in the USA and Australia.
Beyond publishing in scholarly journals and popular media, his major works include _Doing Time in the Depression: Everyday Life in Texas and California Prisons_ (New York University Press, 2012); _Engineering and War: Militarism, Ethics, Institutions, Alternatives_ (Co-authored with Michael Levine and Dean Nieusma, Morgan and Claypool, 2013); and _The Deportation Express: A History of America through Forced Removal_ (University of California Press, 2021).
He lives in Perth, Australia.
