Vicki Moran is a second-generation Colorado native from Arvada and has lived in Coal Creek Canyon since 2000.
"When we moved to Coal Creek, I looked for a book about the history of the area and found none. Searching through books on the history of the Colorado Front Range, I found information about the Gilpin County mining days, Golden, Golden Gate Canyon and State Park, Eldorado Canyon, and Boulder—but hardly a mention of Coal Creek Canyon. My professional career has been in book publishing so I was well-positioned to compile a book on the history of Coal Creek Canyon, which was the missing link in the history of the Front Range from Golden to Boulder.
The research for this book included meeting many wonderful people who were so generous in sharing their family's history and photographs. Coal Creek is lucky to have so many descendants of the original homesteaders and other long-timers. It's a place that people want to stay—in spite of the rigors of mountain living."
