James Briggs

Following a family tradition, JIM BRIGGS went for his AA at Graceland College, where he edited the school paper, played football, and met his future wife. At Stanford, he participated in the Humanities Honors Program, earned BA and MA degrees in Asian languages, and was awarded a Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship.

In the real world, Briggs pursued a career in the high tech industry, working as a businessman and educator in 19 countries, living for nine years in Asia. He was in IBM management for 22 years, and was a management consultant in Silicon Valley for another ten.

After a brief run as the COO of a dotcom startup, Briggs published Critical Analysis in Decision-Making, a business management text. Subsequently, he taught history and business for seven years at two private schools, and conceived the idea for Ending Jihad.

For recreation, he has hunted in California and Alaska, sailed his sloop on Long Island Sound and San Francisco Bay, and earned his black belt in judo at the Kodokan in Tokyo.

Briggs now lives with his wife in Northern California, dividing his time between restoring antique clocks and writing books.
