Herta Feely is the author of Saving Phoebe Murrow, named a “best debut” by Amazon UK and the winner of several awards, including the 2018 National Indie Excellence Award. Her new novel, Strange Shape of Love, and Saving Phoebe are suspense-filled works of fiction that grapple with issues surrounding social media and the dark web and their impact on our culture. Her short stories and memoir have appeared in anthologies and literary journals. For her personal essay, “The Wall” (about immigration), she received the American Independent Writers award, and for her novel, The Trials of Serra Blue, she was awarded the James Jones First Novel Fellowship and a fellowship from the D.C. Commission on the Arts. She explores the fine line between fact and fiction in "Confessions: Fact or Fiction?" -- an anthology of 22 writers' fiction and short memoir pieces. In 2007, Herta founded Chrysalis Editorial, where she works with writers as an editor, writing coach, and ghostwriter. An avid reader, Herta consumes dozens of books each year and reviews some of them on Goodreads and Instagram. She is the co-founder of Safe Kids Worldwide, an organization dedicated to the prevention of unintentional childhood injuries, the leading killer of children in the US. Herta adores her grandchildren, her family, and all types of orchids. She circles the globe in search of adventure and once or twice a year produces a new needlepoint pillow.
