Sara Humphreys

Sara Humphreys is a freelance travel guidebook writer who has lived and worked in Latin America, Southern Africa and the Caribbean. She is a keen advocate of ethical, low-impact, community-based tourism, with a strong interest in indigenous cultures, wildlife and conservation issues. Travel has therefore entailed decades of bumpy bus and boat journeys, plus numerous nights in a hammock or a tent. In the name of research, she has tramped across ancient deserts, hiked over the Andean páramo and squelched through the Amazon rainforest.

An author for DK, Insight Guides and Rough Guides, she has written and co-authored guides to Colombia, Ecuador and Galápagos, Namibia, Panama and Peru, as well as updating guides to these and other destinations, and contributing to various travel book collections.
