Phil Lawson

Phil Lawson is the co-creator of "The Sphere" — what he calls the geometry of thinking: a framework for seeing complex human situations whole rather than in fragments. Over more than 25 years he has developed and field-tested it across 50+ applications with 45,000+ people, and now positions it as a missing layer for human–AI collaboration — a navigation system that supports the high-stakes decisions only humans can make, rather than a replacement for human judgment. His path was an unlikely one: no advanced degrees, a fundamentalist upbringing, and a working life that ran from mission worker to entrepreneur, from international business consultant to executive vice president of an early internet company, to inventor and author, while delivering mail — doing whatever it took to stay grounded in the human experience as he read the patterns underneath complex systems that formal institutions kept missing. He is co-author of Being Spherical (2004), the philosophical foundation for the work, and patented the underlying framework in 2008 — mapping, decades early, the human–AI problem the field is only now naming. Together with his wife, Pamela Powers Lawson, he is co-author of It's Going to Be OK (But Not Like We Thought). He lives in the Denver foothills.
