LESLEY ROSENTHAL is the author of Good Counsel: Meeting the Legal Needs of Nonprofits (John Wiley & Sons 2012) ("Must read" - NY Law Journal; #1 bestseller in its categories - Amazon.com). Nominated for the 2012 Terry McAdam Book Award by the Alliance for Nonprofit Management, Good Counsel is widely used as a guidebook by professionals and as a textbook in classrooms in the US and abroad.
Rosenthal is Chief Operating Officer and Corporate Secretary of The Juilliard School. For 13 years she led the legal, governance, compliance, government relations and information resources functions at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.
Rosenthal has served in many volunteer leadership roles throughout the nonprofit sector, including for Harvard University and the New York State Bar Association and its Foundation.
For 13 years she was in private practice as a business, litigation, and technology lawyer at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison in Manhattan.
Rosenthal graduated from Harvard College and Harvard Law School.
The National Organization for Women (NOW-nyc) has named Rosenthal a "Woman of Power and Influence," and the Association of Media & Entertainment Counsel has named her Counsel of the Year for Excellence in the Arts.
