As a citizen of the world I have been very fortunate to have lived, worked and traveled extensively across Latin America, Asia, Africa and the Middle East. After relocating to Hong Kong in 2005, I returned to Canada after 15 years abroad just this past year with my wife and two young boys. We are constantly on the go between Hong Kong, Mexico and Toronto, keeping up with friends and family and the needs of the ‘day job’.
Writing has been a secretive passion for me since a young age. As a shy 11 year old I entered my first short story in a local writing competition hosted by the public library near my home at the time in Edmonton, Alberta. I was shocked and elated when I won, which inspired me to keep writing though I kept most of my poems and stories to myself.
As a 'military brat', I was moved by my father constantly around Canada from the northern reaches of Cold Lake, Alberta to the stunning beauty of the Annapolis valley of Nova Scotia which only served to solidify my love for my country's natural places.
‘The Brevity of Life’ is my first full length novel now being released as a serial on Amazon.com and is loosely based on people, places and events I became familiar with during my years in Asia. Burma is a singularly beautiful country, its people of various races, religions and ethnic backgrounds even more so. The struggle for democracy there continues on a daily basis. If I am able though this humble work to open even one persons eyes to the events on the ground in that far flung corner of SE Asia, the effort will have been worth it.
