Daniel Cooney

DAN COONEY is an artist and writer best known for his work on the comic book series VALENTINE, THE TOMMY GUN DOLLS graphic novel, the Barron's Ed. series: WRITING AND ILLUSTRATING THE GRAPHIC NOVEL, THE COMPLETE GUIDE TO FIGURE DRAWING FOR COMICS AND GRAPHIC NOVELS, THE COMIC BOOK ARTIST'S WORKBOOK FOR PERSPECTIVE and 9-11: Emergency Relief Anthology. The 1920s crime series THE TOMMY GUN DOLLS continues in Cooney's first FULL COLOR comic book FAST FRANKIE BROADSTREET--FALL 2023 and THE TOMMY GUN DOLLS VOL 2 Double-Cross on Maiden Lane out in 2024. An all-new VALENTINE comic strip series can be read through Patreon.com with new episodes twice a month.

Born in Northern California and raised in the Sacramento area, he attended the School of Visual Arts in New York City, NY, and graduated with a BFA in traditional sequential art and Illustration. As a freelance artist, he has worked with many companies including Barron’s Publishing, Quarto Books, Top Cow Books/The Hero Initiative, Peter Pride’s Publishing, Z2 Comics, Topps, Upper Deck, Alternative Comics, and Tower Records.

Cooney is also a consultant for the adaptation of his comic series VALENTINE for film development by Patriot Pictures. He now lives and works with his family on Martha's Vineyard.
