Markus Varesvuo

Markus Varesvuo is an awarded professional wildlife photographer, specialized in birds of the Western Palearctic, photographing wild animals in natural light. He is a founding member of the www.birdphoto.fi website. Bird photography since 1988; MSc Economics 1987, born in Helsinki, Finland 1960.

He has made several bird books, also in cooperation with other photographers, and a few with the esteemed Finnish ornithologist/non-fiction writer, Pertti Koskimies.

Markus is an Explorer photographer in the Canon Ambassadors Programme, and a member of the team of photographers in the Wild Wonders of Europe initiative.

He is one of the three authors of the Handbook of Bird Photography, published by Rocky Nook (USA) in 2013. The book was originally published in 2011 in Finland, where it was nominated for the Finlandia Literature Prize in Non-Fiction.
