Niamh Shields

With thousands of followers every day for her blog, Eat Like A Girl, Niamh Shields is a passionate voice for home cooks who love to eat well and differently. Niamh has been sharing recipes on her social media and blog since 2007, and continues to share them there as well as in her cookbooks Comfort & Spice and Bacon the Cookbook.

Niamh loves to travel and has travelled extensively, cooking with locals as she does. This is reflected in her books with recipes inspired by these travels all over the world, from Japan to Italy to Borneo to Argentina to the Arctic Circle (3 times!).

Niamh is primarily self-taught and feels passionately that recipes should be easy to follow and a joy. Her science background helps her to break down her cooking processes into easy to follow steps that anyone can engage with. Niamh is on a mission to bring her passion for cooking, canny kitchen tricks and the joy she takes from it to home cooks everywhere.

Niamh won the Best Food blog award at the Observer Food Monthly Awards in October 2011, and has won several awards since. Her latest cookbook, Bacon the Cookbook, has been shortlisted for Irish Cookbook of the Year 2021.
