Judy Alston

Judy A. Alston, Ph.D. holds the rank of Professor and is Chair of the Department of Educational Leadership at Miami (OH) University in Oxford, OH. Her research foci include Gender and Educational leadership with a focus on Black Female school superintendents; Urban Education and Educational Leadership highlighting administrative reform in urban schools; and Diversity and Educational Leadership exploring how the intersections of class, race/ethnicity, gender, sexual diversity, and ability affect leaders. She is author of numerous articles and book chapters. She is the author of Multi-Leadership in Urban Schools and the co-author of the 7th - 11th editions of the bestselling textbook, School Leadership and Administration: Important Concepts, Case Studies, & Simulations, as well as co-author of Herstories: Leading the Lessons of the Lives of Black Women Activists. Additionally, she is the co-editor of Purveyors of Change: School Leaders of Color Share Narratives of Student, School, and Community Success and the upcoming The Undivided Life: Faculty of Color Bringing Our Whole Selves to the Academy.
