Marty Delmon

At the age of sixteen I changed my name from Martha to Marty. No fireworks went off, but I felt different. That began my love affair with words. What can words do for us?

I knew as a child I wanted to be a writer. At the age of twelve I noted in my journal (we called them diaries back then) that I had sent several manuscripts to Readers Digest. Obviously to no avail, and I’m so glad. I would be a very different writer today had they embraced me.

The first words I heard when I surrendered my life to Jesus were “Write. Write for Me. I like the way you write. When you write, you are worshipping Me.”

So, I took some courses at the Community College, such as Drama, Creative Writing, Advanced English, etc. But my training came from the Bible. I’ve been a missionary in France for 35 years, and through my writing I have taught the Bible. My two best sellers are "Destined for Healing" and "Buried Lies."

I write my books in English first and then have them translated. French is beautiful, and all those innuendos that make it beautiful are difficult to translate. No outsider should make the attempt. Find the best translator and allow him or her make your work beautiful.
