Mike Bowman

Mike Bowman is the owner of The Quarter Roll magazine, a Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, based publication about personal finance issues told through the stories of celebrities and people from various walks of life.

Prior to the Quarter Roll, Mike owned other small businesses, including his company that designed and sold shooting accessories, inspired by the Colonial American era. He also worked for many years in executive management in the service industry. He received a business degree from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he later returned to finish his graduate studies in financial planning.

Mike’s experience running his own businesses and that of others gives him the advantage of having worked “on both sides of the desk” as he puts it. As a business owner he sees the challenges that companies experience in creating a profit, and having been previously laid off twice during his career he also experienced first-hand the extreme hardships individuals face when their income is suddenly taken away.

When laid off from his long-term corporate position, Mike dedicated that time to studying, and then teaching himself and others, even more ways to get a better value for their money and making themselves highly marketable in the workplace. That included seeking out others who had successfully overcome unemployment and studying their success. The result of that study formed the basis for “How To Scare The Hell Out Of Unemployment”.

In his time away from work you will most likely find Mike at the gym or spending time with his family traveling across the country exploring historical locations, museums, national parks, and forgotten national treasures.
