I cannot remember a time when I did not want to be a novelist, though for many years I thought it a rather unrealistic choice of careers. I have been smitten with historical fiction ever since my grandfather gave me one of C.S. Forester's Hornblower books to see me through a childhood illness. I started writing my first novel when I was 14. I got 30 pages in before I quite. I decided to try again shortly after graduating from college, and this time I made it through a 100 pages before I stalled out. The third time was a charm. I finished SIEGE in 2009 and have since completed the SALADIN TRILOGY.
I am lucky enough to have a wonderful wife, two lovely daughters, and a very scruffy dog. I live in Washington, DC.
