Angelo Colorni was born in Mantua, Italy, in 1947. In 1973 he made aliya (immigrated) to Israel and, fascinated by the Israelis, has been studying the species in its natural habitat ever since. A marine biologist and senior scientist at the Israel Oceanographic and Limnological Research, National Center for Mariculture in Eilat, he is the author of numerous research works on fish and shrimp diseases, published in prestigious scientific journals. He recently retired. After the success of his "Israel for Beginners" (Gefen, 2011), he wrote "Israel for Advanced Beginners: Everything you wanted to know about the Israelis (but were too mad to ask)" (Steimatzky, 2015 - Available through Amazon). Like a shipwrecked sailor who has finally reached shore, the author of these two humorous books turns around and looks sympathetically at newcomers still struggling in that stormy sea known as the "integration process". He wittily highlights the challenges of non-natives (about 40 percent of the Israeli population) as they negotiate life in their adoptive country.
