Lissa Brown

Lissa Brown has written about adjusting to life in North Carolina's Blue Ridge Mountains (as Leslie Brunetsky) and published the award-winning novel, Family Secrets: Three Generations, in 2011. Her novel, Another F-Word, tells the story of a gentle boy growing up in rural Tennessee and how he copes with bullying. Family of Choice, the sequel to Another F-Word, continues the story of Rory Wilson living in Baltimore with his partner and the partner's two young children, Rory wrestles with whether to readmit his father into his life. Questions about forgiveness, family and fatherhood confront him.

Lissa's novel, Filthy Money, follows two diner waitresses who inherit lots of money but wonder if it's from a bank heist. Their lives are endangered as they solve the mystery of the source of their inheritance.

Her newest novel, Tarnished Streets of Gold, follows a family trying to escape antisemitism in Russia to realize their dream of life in America, overcoming obstacles along the way.

When she is not writing, Lissa tinkers with her bluegrass banjo on the porch of her log cabin. She is a reluctant gym rat and enjoys hiking along mountain streams near her home.
