Hi, I’m Melissa Burnett. I write novels about ordinary people falling into strange and scary situations. I love creepy books, but only if there's some warmth and humor to balance out the darkness.

I lead a writers' discussion group, Wordsmiths Studio, at my local library. I also have a background in musical theater, and I often work that into my writing. If you’ve been involved with theater, you know that can be strange and scary on its own!

I live in a 1926 house in rural Missouri with my husband and our cat. We do hear creaks in the night and tell ourselves it’s nothing, but let’s be honest: In a hundred-year-old house full of antiques, there’s bound to be a ghost or two. Happy reading!
