S. G. Byrd

S. G. Byrd grew up in Macon, Georgia. Her father was a professor at Mercer University and her mother taught piano. She had the run of Mercer's beautiful campus and (no doubt) endeared herself to students by skating in-between them on the walkways.

After graduating from Duke University, she drove a bookmobile in West Virginia, where she almost wrecked every time she saw sheep grazing on the mountainsides. An illness (Sjogren’s syndrome) put an end to that, and she spent several years doing part-time work. Later she married and with her husband raised three children in Durham, North Carolina.

As the children got older, she started writing. She believes fantasy has a special power not only to enhance the imagination but to speak about reality. She writes light fantasy that is set in a Christian world. If you enjoyed C. S. Lewis's Narnia stories, you'll like her mountain world (Montaland) series.
