Tim Ahern is an illustrator of James Joyce's Finnegans Wake whose work has appeared under the general title "The Illnesstraited Colossick Idition". The first volume, concerning the first chapter of the Wake, appeared in 1983 (University of Washington Press). Since relocating to Boston, Ahern has published a second volume (afi Productions, 2011) containing more than 700 illustrations together with the text of the final chapter of Finnegans Wake. These drawings were first presented at the 2011 James Joyce Symposium in Pasadena. Ahern's illustrations have also appeared in periodicals in the US, Europe and Japan.
Ahern also pursues a separate career in the biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry, and has co-edited a book on protein stability (Plenum Press). He currently lives in Littleton, Massachusetts with his wife Molly and son Brian ("Woody").
