Peter J. Dean

Dr Peter J. Dean is a Fellow at the Strategic and Defence Studies Centre, The Australian National University (ANU), where he is Director of Studies. He lectures at the Australian Command and Staff College (Joint) in expeditionary warfare and military operations and on Australia’s strategic alliances at ANU’s Acton Campus. He is the 2014-15 Fulbright Scholar in Australia–United States Alliance Studies. Peter is the author of Architect of Victory: Lieutenant General Sir Frank Horton Berryman, and editor of Australia 1942: In the Shadow of War, Australia 1943: The Liberation of New Guinea, and Australia’s Defence: Towards a New Era? He is a managing editor of the journal Security Challenges and editorial board member of Global War Studies. He is currently a Visiting Fellow at the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University and non-resident Fellow at the Centre for Strategic and International Studies in Washington DC.
