Carolyn Shearlock

Hi! I’m Carolyn Shearlock. My husband Dave and I spent 17 years living aboard and cruising—first on our Tayana 37 in the Sea of Cortez and Central America, then for ten years on our Gemini 105M catamaran, cruising Florida and the Bahamas. We’d both been around boats our whole lives, but full-time cruising brought a whole new learning curve.

I started The Boat Galley as a blog to share what we were figuring out and help others avoid the same frustrations. Since then, it’s grown into a trusted resource with over a thousand articles, a weekly podcast, online courses, and a wonderful community of cruisers. Everything I create is rooted in experience—ours and the lessons generously shared by others along the way.

My books and guides are detailed how-to resources for cruisers, focused on real-world solutions that make boat life simpler, safer, and more fun.
