The first book I recall reading to the point of blocking out everything and everybody was a book about a horse named Flicka. I was around five-years-old. Then a story about a horse named Fury. Then another book, title not remembered unfortunately, about a young girl and her horse Patches. I still see the horse and the young girl - but I obviously adored horses and stories in which horses occurred. I've had a lifelong love of reading, writing, and loving animals. Not all of my stories have animals in them, but many do, as a result of my love for animals.

My parents had a place up north in Wisconsin in Three Lakes. A beautiful home on a large, glassy lake. Once or twice a week I'd go with my father to the garbage dump (on the way home we'd go to Dairy Queen). At evening as we'd pull up the dusty road to the dump, the bears would watch. When we looked hard enough, we could see eyes watching us toss the garbage onto the fires - the old man that monitored the garbage aiding us and warning that the bears could be mean if hungry enough. It was tremendous fun, looking for the bears and being absolutely thrilled when a couple would venture out of the woods and come closer to watch and wait for us to leave! I was just a kid, but some of the teenage boys there (we'd sometimes play while our fathers talked to the old man and stood around watching the fires burn) would tell tales of murders that happened at night at the garbage dump - that sometimes the bears would attack those dumping garbage into the roaring fire (that's how garbage was disposed of way back then - burning - and it stunk). Some would tell stories about men that simply murdered and the bodies were never found and were thought to have been burned with the garbage. The grisly tales of murder, whether by the bears of humans, completely enthralled me. Now I was hooked on animal stories and murder mysteries.

As a young girl, my father taught me to bake, and well into my later life, after my father had died, I opened my own bakery/cafe in honor of my father - The Art Cafe & Bakery - because we had always dreamed of opening our own bakery.

During my many years aging (and thankfully I'm still around), I tended to children as a sitter, nanny, watcher - whatever it was/is called and used to tell the kids stories all the time, especially when they were getting a bit rambunctious or at sleep time. Fun little stories, innocent but curious.

So, this is why most of my books fall into the categories of animals, murder mystery, cookbooks and children's books. And typically there is love interest in my adult books.

Whichever books of mine you decide to read, I truly hope you enjoy them and I thank you for your time and consideration.

Stay safe and stay healthy.
