John W. Paull has always worked with children—first as a teacher and most recently as an education consultant and inspector. He comes from a large north London family, and he currently lives in a town in Hertfordshire, where he continues his work with children as a member of the governing body of a local school. In fact this is where he first met the illustrator of 'The Great Stampede'. She was a pupil at the same school.
The illustrator, who is now 12-years-old, wrote the following. 'My name is Mia Dickson. I love my pets, friends and family. I really enjoyed doing the illustrations for this book.
