Peter Olsthoorn (1960), historian, a journalist since 1978 successively for local, regional and national newspapers and later for management and trade magazines in the Netherlands, Germany and the U.S. (CommunicationsWeek). He worked for dailies, radio and television from Eastern Europe during the upheavals of 1988-1990.
From 1995 until late 2007 he produced Planet Multimedia, one of the first European e-zines, and in 1997 wrote he the book "Intranet & Internet", in 1998 "Dialogue via Intranet" and in 2010 "The power of Google." In February 2012 "The Power of Facebook" is to be published
These are all Dutch language books, In the beginning of 2012 "The Power of Google" was translated in English as "The Price we Pay for Google".
"The macht van Facebook (2012) was published in an American English translation as "It's Complicated - the Power of Facebook" in two editions, one 'normal' and an "Extended Professional" one. A short edition was published as "The Power of Facebook - Take It or Leave It".
In 2000 Peter founded Netkwesties.nl, an e-zine about social-economic consequences of the Internet, and in 2008 Leugens.nl about falsehoods in politics, media etc..
Olsthoorn also acts as moderator and coach, was chairman of the Internet section of the Dutch journalist association NVJ and is a member of the Press Council. He is a happy father and partner and has broad interests, from literature, plays, and observing people, to swimming, soccer and running.
