As young girls growing up in the shadow of New York City, my best friend and I aspired to be great writers someday. We wrote short stories together and even wrote and distributed a neighborhood newspaper for awhile(it was really only one block's worth of news). Those were fun and transformative days for me and while my best friend went on to the medical field, writing was not over for me.
I wrote stories through high school, collaborated on a musical with an ex-husband, and continued to write as I raised my children and worked in other fields, all the while keeping my writing on the back burner, so to speak while life took front and center.
I have since settled into the Northwest corner of Arkansas, a beautiful area full of inspiration and warmth where my two dogs, Alfie, a big old fluffy mix of Border Collie and who knows what else, and Malcolm, my feisty Cairn Terrier. I live near my children and grandchildren, who keep me busy and surrounded with love.
It wasn't until I was in my late forties that I gave writing greater attention and actually completed a novel, La Lune, which was inspired by a dream. Then came What Celia Knows, a story I'd wanted to write for quite some time.
The View from Hawking's Bridge, my newest book, is very personal to me in that it tackles the subject of suicide and its aftermath. I lost my husband to suicide in 2013, and although this book is not our story, it certainly contains some of the issues my family has dealt with in the time since his death. I do hope readers find hope in Jackson Hawking's story. Writing it was definitely cathartic for me.
I am currently working on another story inspired by a dream(thank you muses!), a mix of Steampunk and Sci-Fi, full of alternate histories and thread-travelling thrills! Check my Facebook page and keep watching for it!
