Jack Day's interest in writing began to evolve by writing reports and making presentations to peers and clients while working in the investment banking industry. He had previously served in the United States Army as an MP (military police), and received his bachelor's degree in History from Lake Forest College, Ill. Day moved to Montana in 1975, and soon started Creative Business Designs, designing business forms, systems, and promotional printing to clients throughout the region. While managing his own company he was a founder and coach of the communities youth soccer program. Jack also served as president of The Friends of Montana Public Television, the Intermountain Opera Association and other not-for-profit organizations. He sold his company in 1997, favoring to spend more time traveling with his wife, Karen, and visiting with his children and grandchildren.
Day's debute as a writer of children's books focuses on his experiences with black bears as they frequent his backyard in the autumn of the year. "Gramma, Grampa, and the Three Bears" explores the relationships between humans and our bruin friends in a humorous, delightful manner. Day hopes that his book will inspire children to appreciate the wildlife that surrounds us, and to enjoy reading as much as he does.
His latest book, "Gramma and Grampa's Adventures in Yellowstone National Park", carried them to many areas of the park including the Lamar and Hayden Valleys and beyond. The animals they encountered ranged from the mighty moose to the multi-colored harlequin ducks; from the magnificent elk to the playful river otters. It is a book for growing readers and all who enjoy reading to others.
