Yumma Mudra
Ngakma Yumma Mudra (aka Myriam Szabo) has been dancing since the age of three, first in the US and then with the Ballet Russe Irina Grjebina in Paris from 1973 onwards. Following this, she studied many dance techniques as well as Qi Gong, Shotokan Karate (black belt) and Hatha Yoga in depth. In 1981, she was the model and protagonist of the advertising poster "Myriam — J'enlève le haut — J'enlève le bas" by the poster maker Avenir. This advertising campaign borrowed her first name for use by the general public.
Despite the numerous requests for her to continue modelling, she deliberately gave up fame at the age of 20 to devote herself fully to her spiritual vocation. Retreating into solitude under the guidance of Buddhist masters for years, Yumma Mudra has studied and practised the traditional Vajrayana path intensively since 1980.
In the 1990s, she produced cultural festivals in Portugal and founded the international network DanzaDuendeNetwork in 2004.
A graduate in Contemplative Psychology and a Tantric poet, Yumma Mudra is the author of La Voie Qui Danse (Danse as the Path), which has been published twice in French and translated into Italian. Her latest metaphysical novel, L'Île de Bee ou la Béance des Sens, was published by Le Souffle d'Or in 2020.
Under the tutelage of Ringu Tulku Rinpoche, she conceived her project, "Dancing Dharma Study", to build a clear bridge between dance and spiritual dharma training for many artists within the Danza Duende Network.
