Andrew Woo's experience in software engineering, research and development spans over 25 years in the aerospace & defense, oil & gas, automotive, medical, games and film industries. Connecting people, technology and business - that is what he did as Principal at WooStyle Consulting, and intends to follow that philosophy as Industrial Technology Advisor at National Research Council Canada. Previously, in his role as NGRAIN's Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and VP of Engineering, he was responsible for applied research, product development, UX, quality assurance, professional services, instructional design, and intellectual property for visualization software products and projects that have been deployed throughout the Canadian and US militaries. Prior to working with NGRAIN, he was senior R&D Manager at Alias-Wavefront, where he was responsible for rendering in award-winning 3D graphics products including Sketch!, Studio, and Maya, for which the Alias team won an Academy Award in technical achievement in 2003. He has published 30 technical papers, multiple patents, and a book on the subject of computer graphics. His ideas have been implemented in products from NVIDIA, Microsoft, and Pixar. Andrew is cofounder of the ACM SIGGRAPH Chapters in Toronto and Vancouver. He is an ACM distinguished member and is a member of IEEE and CIPS. Andrew received his BSc and MSc in Computer Science and Commerce from the University of Toronto, in 1987 and 1989, respectively. Andrew also holds designations in I.S.P. and ITCP.
