Elizabeth Buie (1952-) is a computer systems professional specializing in usability, interaction design, and the user experience. She has over 35 years of experience working on government systems (including 15 years on government websites), mostly for civilian agencies of the US Federal Government. She has worked on projects ranging from agency intranets to public websites to air traffic control systems to the International Space Station. Since 1982 her work has focused on improving the ability of these systems and sites to support the goals of their users, be they members of the public or people working inside the government. Elizabeth sometimes feels a little envious of colleagues who work on sexier projects such as commercial websites (although she has to admit that, as projects go, the Space Station is pretty dadgum sexy), but she takes great satisfaction in knowing that her work can help improve the lives of a lot of people.
Elizabeth was educated at North Carolina State University and the University of Maryland. "Usability in Government Systems: User Experience Design for Citizens and Public Servants" is Elizabeth's first book.
