Paul Clifton

Paul Clifton was born in Crystal Palace, London in 1988, moving to Croydon as a young child until a teenager when his family decided to move and settled in Wrexham, North Wales in 2001. Wrexham has been his local city ever since and often refers to Wrexham, as the place he calls home and where his heart belongs.

Paul is an author and poet. His books have received praise from renowned poets, authors, and writers on his writing skills. Paul is an imaginative and ambitious poet who can write about ordinary tasks, lives and heartfelt meaning poetry, which he turns into an original creative piece of writing.

He often performs his work in Wrexham and across Northeast Wales and Cheshire at various literary events and festivals. Besides from writing and performing at events he is a committee member of Wrexham’s annual literary festival, The Carnival of Words, a member of Chester Poets, as well as Wrexham Writers, which the latter he co-writes the newsletter for. Until recently after eleven years he hung up his coat on hosting the popular and local open mic poetry events, Viva Voce. He is very proud of Viva Voce's success, which became well-established in Wrexham and featured on the Welsh Channel S4C with guest appearances from Alys Conran and the late Les Barker. Paul is looking forward to what the next chapter will bring in his hosting and writing journey.
