Welcome to my corner of this asylum that we call a world. The rumors and innuendoes are true; I was born and raised in Oakland, California. Early and repeated abuse led to severe depression, the search for help, and finally the finished product that you see before you. Not that you can see me on this Website, but if you were to see me and get to know me you would see how thoroughly messed up the professionals have left me. I had no choice, but to begin writing as a means of expression and healing.
I won’t lie to you (I might exaggerate the truth; however, or leave some stuff out to look good), one day a group of women suggested, or rather insisted, that I leave their quiet, well kempt group and try my luck out on the mean streets of Oakland. In the mean streets, other authors and artists told me that I should turn my notes into a book and become a published writer. My first novel, “Tired of Crying”, is a work of fiction, but is based on my tumultuous, yet totally unforgettable life. Growing up in Oakland, California gave me much material to work with. I’m in the process of completing my second novel. I can say that the future looks bright. But, don’t we always think that.
Oh, yeah; I’ve also written a couple of children’s books, which I would totally let my children read if I were you. Just kidding, they’re regular children’s books, but I haven’t published them yet, so I guess you will have to check this Site often to view my progress.
My New Year’s revolution (not a mistake) is to stop doing everything for everyone else and to stop procrastinating. Therefore, I say you can look forward to much more material from this author as she strengthens her voice and builds up her courage to tell the whole story. I wouldn’t check every day or anything, but often. I mean this no procrastination stuff is new to me, plus I need a new computer; mine is really slow, but check back…soon.—f. r. mitchell
