The son of amateur musicians and writers, Tom Lewis was born in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, and grew up mostly in New Bern, North Carolina where he graduated from high school. He chose music as a career path, and was further educated here and in Europe. Tom subsequently enjoyed a 38-year career as a symphony orchestra conductor, both in Europe and the United States. He held numerous Music Director and Conductor posts and guest conducted extensively during that period, but also kept his writing aspirations alive. After retiring from conducting, Tom began to write seriously for publication.
During the past decade eight novels, a book of short stories, and several essays have been published. They are all suspense/mystery novels; ranging from historical fiction , thrillers, to horror. Tom is currently working on his ninth novel and resides in New Bern. He is very active in local and statewide literary endeavors.
