James Robert Kane

James Robert Kane is a 1968 graduate of the University of Minnesota School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Drafted, he served with the First Air Calvary Division in Vietnam from August, 1969 to August, 1970, first as an infantryman and then as a clerk on fire base Buttons near Phuoc Binh, 60 miles north of Saigon. He worked as a newspaper reporter, photographer and editor in the early 70’s, specializing in personality profiles. Retired, he writes fiction, from short stories to novels. His short story "What My Heart Knows" won first place for short fiction in the 2018 "The Talking Stick" anthology published by the Jackpine Writers Bloc. “Screams,” appeared in The Talking Stick vol. 23, and his flash fiction story, "Footprints on the Moon" is part of the 2016 edition. "Incident at Pipestone" was recently released as part of the anthology "Where Rivers Converge: Prose & Poetry of Carver County Writers." Short story “Sex and Sister Margaret” was published in the Dec. 2015 issue of Pif Magazine. He has four books on Amazon: “The Accidental Salvation of Mai Vanh,” “Bamboo Dreams,” "Twisted Dreams,” and “The Killing Dream.”
