ROBERT N. PHALEN, PhD , CIH, FAIHA

I am a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) and a Fellow of the American Industrial Hygiene Association (FAIHA). I hold a doctorate in environmental health sciences, with a specialization in industrial hygiene, from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) where I conducted research on pesticides and personal protective equipment. My general background includes experience in the practice of industrial hygiene, health and safety, environmental health, and ergonomics. I am a Professor and the Program Chair of Occupational Safety and Health at the University of Houston-Clear Lake. I teach industrial hygiene and occupational safety to undergraduate and graduate students. I also conduct related industrial hygiene, occupational safety, ergonomics, and environmental health research.

My primary academic goals are to produce competent professionals in the field who will help keep our workforce healthy and productive and build on the foundation of the profession.
