Prakash Gorroochurn

I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Biostatistics at Columbia University. I obtained my Ph.D. in Mathematical Population Genetics from Monash University, Australia, in 1999. My main areas of research interest include mathematical population genetics, genetic epidemiology, and the history of probability and statistics.

My first book “Classic Problems of Probability” won the 2012 PROSE Award for Mathematics from The American Publishers Awards for Professional and Scholarly Excellence. More on my publications and other stuff can be found on my homepage at http://www.columbia.edu/~pg2113/
