Arthur Segal

Rabbi Arthur Segal graduated cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania in the 1970s, where he completed BA and DMD degrees, Specialty, and Post-Doctoral studies in psychology. His love of Judaism and his Ahavath Israel led him on a personal quest for Jewish Spiritual Renewal. Following his retirement from a successful oral medicine practice, he began ten years of intensive study, culminating in Rabbinic ordination with Semikah.

Rabbi Segal was the first to bring weekly Torah and Mishna classes to one of the oldest synagogues in America, at which he held the position of Scholar-in-Residence for a year. He has written internationally acclaimed texts and essays on Jewish Spiritual Renewal, Mussar, Ethics, Torah, and Talmud.

He offers free online classes on the spiritual and ethical teachings of the Torah, TaNaK and Talmud, and rabbinic counseling using the step-by-step process of Jewish Spiritual Renewal to help his fellow Jews achieve spirituality. Jewish ethics teaches that we are not to chase honor. One of our morning prayers is to ask that our names be like dust. Although Rabbi Segal is not a person who needs to see his name and photo in local or national media, he does get great press!

He has been lauded by the by The Institute of American and Talmudic Law as a great example of a prominent Jewish leader for his dedicated work in developing a Magan Tzedek, a Shield of Righteousness, to ensure that animals are treated humanely, and workers treated fairly, in kosher meat packing plants. He is one of three Jewish leaders listed on the Top 50 Seminarian Blogs.

Rabbi Segal, and his beshert, Ellen Freedman Segal, have traveled together to over 150 countries, visiting and aiding Jewish communities where they exist. Ellen and Rabbi Segal enjoy a life of shalom, shlema and gratitude, with their parrot, Avivit Keter.
