I am a mobile computing pioneer and would best describe myself here as an "accidental author". I have always meddled with writing but never thought I'd write a book on garlic. I was frequently thinking more along the lines of writing a book for kids based on my basset hound Sara. Sara was in a wheelchair but is now fully recovered thanks to her time zipping in her wheelchair through the vineyards in upstate NY. Maybe that's next?
Sometime during the late Spring of 2011, Adams Media contacted me through my foodhistorian.com site with an offer. I accepted the assignment, immersed myself in garlic for 3 months, and lo and behold, the publisher took my work and turned it into a little, info-rich jewel entitled "A Miscellany of Garlic". I'm amazed, grateful, and proud! It turned out great thanks to the collaborative efforts of many folks and the support of my many friends!
If you have an iPhone or iPad, you can download the little iPhone app I created to promote the book - http://www.foodhistorian.com/node/126 is the link to follow.
I've worked my entire life in high tech - AT&T, General Electric, Informix, Apple, Palm Computing and now Palmtop Publishing. I discovered great food in college and learned to cook by watching my Mom and others and by following recipes.
I love creating things and I hope that you enjoy my work. You can track down many software programs that I've crafted over the years within a few web searches. You'll find that I did a lot of pioneering!
