Chris Metherell

Chris Metherell was born in London in the 1950's to parents of Scots/Irish descent.

She moved to Devon in 1967, then to Cornwall where she lived with her family for twenty five years in a small rural village. In 2002 Chris set out on the journey of a lifetime sailing the Mediterranean and the Atlantic for 10 years having never sailed before. Much of her writing is based on her own experiences.

Cornish Cream and Pilchards is Chris' first complete fiction novel and in its storytelling she draws on her life in Cornwall and the wonderful down-to-earth nature of the country people with whom she had the good fortune to live and work.

Legacy of a Cornish Spring is Chris' second fiction novel in which she returns to the characters from the village of St Larnack in Cornwall to tell the story of Jeannie whose life is turned about by the discovery of a long lost child and the satellite stories involving some of Jeannie's friends.

The Fly Fisherman's Tale was published in December 2012, it is a story of the supernatural set in Cornwall with lots of twists and turns in the tale and an unexpected final twist that will keep her readers guessing.

Cornish Odyssey is Chris' latest novel published in February 2014 and is based on her first sailing years, the places that she visited and the diversity of the people who she met along the way.

This story moves away from the characters of St Larnack but retains its Cornish links. It tells the story of Cornish girl Val who rediscovers her passion for life and love through her re acquaintance with a school friend she hasn't seen for many years. Mike Daniels is a free spirit living on his sailing boat in the Mediterranean who encourages Val to explore her latent search for excitement and adventure by inviting her to join him on a journey of a lifetime. On the way they discover new places and amazing people, they face storms and pirates and terrible sickness, but they also find that they can share the laughs and the tears and the love.
