Novelist Lon Dee has a varied background that includes stints as a shelf stocker, cook, preacher, driver, translator, bureaucrat, programmer, designer, blogger, videographer, volunteer, father, and husband. Between all that, he finds time to write in two genres—young adult fantasies and adventure thrillers.
Lon lived and studied for several years in East Asia, where he learned to speak—and occasionally sleep talk—fluent Mandarin. His knowledge of Asian history and cultures is apparent in his work and his diet. His books are all set in ancient, mythological, or modern Asia, and help to draw readers into detailed and exotic locales. He pursued a BA in History and a graduate degree in International Development and this academic background helps add to the richness and detail of his writing.
Lon enjoys traveling and claims each trip as a business expense by blogging about his experiences. When not writing, he’s often attempting to keep up with his children in various outdoor athletic events, followed by frequent trips to the orthopedic clinic. He currently resides near the lake in northern Utah, U.S.A., where outdoor adventures abound.
