Ann Camacho

Ann Camacho has been an English teacher for more than 20 years. She currently teaches Honors American literature at North High School in Riverside, California. Her students, and the student body as a whole, are very diverse, and many are in the school’s International Baccalaureate program and/or Advanced Placement classes. Ann also participates in the AVID (Advancement via Individual Determination) college preparation program for students who have college aspirations but are from disadvanged backgrounds in which college seems out of reach.

Ann grew up in Lakewood, Colorado, and received a swimming and academic scholarship to Cornell College. She transferred to Penn State, earning a bachelor’s degree in English, then went on to get a master’s equivalent in secondary education from the University of Denver, and a master’s degree in English from National University. She lives in Riverside, California.

Ann loves to read, watch great dramas and romantic comedies, find treasures in antique stores, and have lengthy back-patio conversations with friends. Teaching has been her life’s passion and has been surpassed only by the time she spends raising her two girls. Though Ann loves traveling to faraway lands and learning about other people and customs, she is also content being at home, spending time with family and friends. She hopes to make a difference in the world through teaching literature, one book at a time.
