Mary Ann Kerr

Born in Tacoma, WA the last of five children, my mother was deaf and my father hard of hearing. I lived a Huck Finn existence until I was barely seven when both parents died the same year. I spoke with my hands until I was about eight. My oldest sister taught me to speak and I’ve never stopped! I now have a new voice...writing! :) I lived with an aunt and uncle until she died, and then I was a ward of the state and lived with a minister and his wife and three girls.

I actually remember the day reading made sense...connecting those letters! I got my first library card in Issaquah, WA and never, ever stopped reading. Books are not only friends, they are open doors to places and events most of us will never experience outside their covers.

With my husband, Phil, being a career officer in the USAF we have lived around the U.S. as well as Canada, Germany and Denmark which was a NATO assignment. We have four boys and they traveled, too. We spent vacations racketing around Europe and enjoying every minute of it. Much of my writing is flavored with experiences I’ve enjoyed.

I taught Language Arts for a short time at Wilson Middle School and then Union Gap Middle School in Yakima, Washington. I love kids of all ages and have four boys of my own. My husband and I live right in the middle of Washington State. We have two dogs, Buttercup, a yellow Lab and Shotzi, my little schnauzer who both check out our little orchard on a regular basis!

I began seriously writing February 24, 2010. I now have my first book out and have written three more in the series and am on my fifth book. I can’t seem to stop typing...my poor house and garden! :) I love entertaining, breakfast, lunch and dinner...whatever! Golf, gardening, reading, writing, making new friends and cherishing the old are favorite things

I hope you enjoy Liberty’s Inheritance...the first in the A Woman of Entitlement Series. It’s a good read and I’m getting great feedback from both men and women on the prerelease books! Blessings! Mary Ann Kerr
