Maurice Barnwell received his design education in Birmingham and in Toronto. He has worked and taught in the UK, Hong Kong and Canada. In February 1991 he founded Idforum, the first computer newsgroup dedicated to the world of industrial design. His teaching career covers three decades and includes courses concerned with the History of Design; History of Communication Design; Image, Text & Ideas; The Cultural Controls of Design; Design in Society; Design Creativity and Research in Design. Maurice is a well-travelled speaker and has presented at conferences in Europe, Asia and North America, His current research is focused on the changing nature of design. Design, Creativity and Culture: an orientation to design was published in October 2011. In 2014 he published a series of six Studies in Design and Culture.
