Teruni D. Lamberg

Dr. Teruni Lamberg is a Professor of Elementary Mathematics Education at the University of Nevada, Reno. With a lifelong passion for teaching, she began her career in Arizona, where she taught for several years before earning her doctorate from Arizona State University. She later completed a prestigious postdoctoral fellowship at Vanderbilt University.

Over the past two decades, Dr. Lamberg has focused on helping teachers refine their mathematics instruction to be more effective and impactful. As Principal Investigator of the Northeastern Nevada Mathematics Project—a statewide Math Science Partnership initiative—she worked closely with elementary and middle school teachers across a broad geographic region. This hands-on experience led her to develop practical, research-based tools designed to create sustainable professional development for educators.

The results were inspiring: teachers transformed their classroom practices and saw measurable growth in student achievement. The project gained national recognition as a model by the U.S. Department of Education.

Dr. Lamberg continued this important work as Principal Investigator of the Lemelson Math and Science Cohorts and the Nevada Mathematics Project, continually refining her methods based on direct feedback from teachers. Today, she remains actively involved in supporting schools and educators, always learning from those on the front lines of teaching.

Her most recent research explores how parents can support their children’s math learning at home—continuing her mission to improve math education from every angle.
