I was born into a Liverpool Irish family in 1947. I am married, with four children now aged 41 to 30. My interests include language training; German theology, liturgy; Liverpool FC (first match 1958), and my six grandchildren,

Having spent my working life in education, both in the UK and in Germany, I took early retirement as a lecturer in 1999 at the age of 52, having been diagnosed with Parkinson's two years before. Medication keeps the symptoms under control most of the time, and in fact I am generally better than I was 10 years ago. I now work as a freelance author and editor. Since 1998 I have been Series Editor for Palgrave Macmillan's highly successful Foundations Languages series of university coursebooks and am co-author of the German beginners' title.

In 2013, I was fortunate enough to fulfill a long-standing ambition with the publication of 'THE JESUS READER: THE TEACHING AND IDENTITY OF JESUS CHRIST' by the Columba Press, Dublin. The book does not try to persuade or convert the reader. It presents the identity of Jesus Christ through the words of his contemporary and near-contemporary followers as they attempted to describe and define who he was. The second part of the book is given over to Jesus' ethical teaching,in his own words.
