Reynold Conger

I am a chemist and an engineer who worked in the paper industry. My last industrial job was as an international consultant assisting paper mills around the world. Foreign TV is not very entertaining, especially when I was in a hotel in remote Brazil. There I had a TV with 7 channels. 3 were duplicates. All were in Portuguese except one station that rotated between programs in Spanish, English and German. In Japan all stations broadcast in Japanese. One weekend I spent hours watching the National Sumo Wrestling Championships. Each bout consisted of five minutes of ceremony followed by 10 seconds of action.

I left home with a half dozen used books in my luggage. When I finished a book, I left it behind for someone else to enjoy. I was still fighting boredom so I began writing fiction to entertain myself. I became hooked on writing and have continued. To date, most of my manuscripts have been based on life experiences.

I finished my working career by teaching math and science at the secondary level for 8 years. One year I was an assistant track coach. Another year, I shared an office with a Spanish teacher who coached the boy's soccer team.

Now that I am fully retired, I run, garden, keep bees, and write fiction. My wife and I live in rural New Mexico. Our two children have careers of their own.
