Violeta Barrett was born and grew up in Brooklyn, New York to Italian immigrant parents. She moved to Canada in 1963, after marrying her husband of 30 years. For 42 years she worked in executive positions in both the public and private sectors. Her debut book FIRST LOVE was published in English and Spanish in 2011 and won the National Association of Book Entrepreneurs (NABE) PINNACLE BOOK ACHIEVEMENT AWARD in the category of Memoir, 2012; the Book Publicists of So. Calif.(BPSC) IRWIN (Industry Recognition for Writers in the News) AWARD in the category of Most Romantic Campaign, 2012; BOOKS-AND-AUTHORS.NET AWARD 2012 in the category of Romance/Memoir; and the Great Southeast Book Festival Honorable Mention in the category of Biography/Autobiography, 2013. She was chosen WOMAN OF THE YEAR 2012-2013 by the National Association of Professional Women.
