I'd like to say I've been writing since I was two, but I barely remember being two, let alone what I was doing. But I do remember growing up loving to write and creating stories. Some of them I wrote down. Most of them were lost over time.

I grew up in an atmosphere where the arts were not appreciated, and I was therefore different from everybody else around me. I gave up. When I was twenty-three, married with one child, I found myself between jobs. Someone asked me what I wanted to do. Without even thinking about it my answer flew out of my mouth, "I want to write; but that won't pay the bills so I'll have to find something else."

I spent the next twenty years writing anyway, I just didn't realize that's what I was doing. Speeches, reports, educational material for the field in which I volunteered, newsletter articles, etc. Non-fiction all the way. And then something happened and I lost all those creative outlets, all at the same time, and I found myself watching way too much television.

So at forty-three, two grown children and two grandchildren later, I asked myself, "What do you WANT to do?" And the answer was the same: I want to write. I already have a job that pays the bills, so I write in my spare time and I write for me.

I hope you enjoy what I write. If you do, then I write for you as well. But at my age, to finally be able to do something I've enjoyed all my life, just because I love doing it, is a real blessing.
