Debra Goodrich Bisel

Debra Goodrich is the Garvey Texas Foundation Historian in Residence at the Fort Wallace Museum, Wallace, KS, and the host of Around Kansas TV Show. She grew up in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia and North Carolina. She made various forays into publishing magazines, including the Kansas Journal of Military History. She has been a guest on C-SPAN, numerous radio talk shows, and has appeared in many documentaries on various history topics. Currently, she appears on The Gunslingers on the American Heroes Channel. She is past president of the Shawnee County (KS) Historical Society and is a president of the Civil War Roundtable of Eastern Kansas, past board member of Western Writers of America and serves on the WWA's Homestead Foundation Board.

Deb is a producer on Sod and Stubble (New Albany Films, 2024) and a talking head and advisor on The Road to Valhalla (Lone Chimney Films, 2014), the 2015 recipient of the Wrangler award for best documentary. She is also one of the historians in the Emmy-award winning American Artist: The Life and Times of George Caleb Bingham (Wideawake Films, 2018). She wrote and directored a feature film documenting the 1867 discovery of a plesiosaur by personnel at Fort Wallace, Thof's Dragon (Farmgirl Productions, 2017).

She is writing a documentary and a limited feature series based on her book, From the Reservation to Washington: The Rise of Charles Curtis.
