Michael Staton has been writing since he was six years old. Back then, though, his only fan was his mother. Nowadays he has a growing fan base, not only for his books but for his stories as a weekly newspaper writer.
That's right. He's a newspaperman. He's done it for two stints, first at daily newspapers in Ohio and Florida from '74 to '89 and now at weekly newspapers in southeast North Carolina from 2010 until January 2014 when he retired. He now lives in Las Vegas.
Staton took his creative writing seriously starting in the early '90s when he began working sporadically on his first novel. He found a publisher for it in 2010 and now The Emperor's Mistress is available on Amazon. In 2011, a second novel, Thief's Coin, was published. Both are part of the Larenia's Sword trilogy. The final book, Assassins' Lair, is now finished (January 2016) and available on Amazon.
Staton is a graduate of Ohio University with a degree in journalism. Besides a love of reading, he has been a Civil War Re-enactor and a space exploration hobbyist. He also enjoys college and professional sports, especially football and baseball.
